kittyboo_tastic: Abel and Cole

Hello there!
I am new to this community, and may be asking something you have widely debated before; if so, I apologise.
My boyfriend and I are thinking about registering with Abel & Cole, but we do not have any 'secure' place to leave the box, and would have to give a key of our front door to be delivered more securely.
However, our neighbour in the downstairs flat is a bit reluctant about people having access to the front door, and fears burglars.
Have any of you used Abel and Cole before, and, if so, are you happy with the service and choice; and did you leave a key? How secure do you believe it is?
Any alternative option?

Many thanks!

Welcome to the community!

Alas I have no help to offer with your questions; I haven't used A&C and live in a cottage so my delivery guy just puts the bags round the back, out of sight.

I actually trust Abel & Cole enough to give them a key [I called this afternoon to find out more about how secure it would be]; it's more my neighbour I need to convince actually... (sigh).
I looked at the Hippo-box option, but it's MUCH too expensive for my modest means!
Thanks anyway

While I have no experience with Abe & Cole, is it just you & the downstairs people in the building? Isn't this sort of thing why we have locks on our individual doors?

please understand that I'm just bitter because the yobs I share a stair with broke the main door lock TWICE. And when it wasn't broken, their stupid pals were trying to buzz in and holllering at the door at all hours of the night

it's just him (downstairs) and us (upstairs); there is one locked front door, and we share a small corridor; then we both have a locker on our doors.. but I guess it would be easy to force the locker.
I understand his concern, but I think a nationwide service like this one would not take the risk of stealing stuff out of customers...

gotcha, that is a bit more.. cozy. ANd makes him sound less paranoid, the way it would if someone in our building were to fuss... but yeah.

What about having it delivered to work?

When I lived in Brighton we used Abel and Cole (actually my ex-housemates still do) and had nothing but praise for them.

The boxes are full of good stuff, and they have great customer service - the few times we had something not quite right or slightly battered in the box they gave us a refund or something extra in the box the next week.

As far as security goes, we lived in a quietish suburb and they just left the box on the doorstep! It never went missing, even if left there all day. That probably says more about our neighbours than Abel and Cole though. I suspect if you explained the situation to them they might be able to offer some advice or possible reassurance to your neighbour.

I have given my neighbour the information Abel and Cole gave me, as well as their contact number, if he wants to ask for himself. He is quite a weird guy...

I've used Abel & Cole for about 2.5 years now, delivering to both south and north London locations and never had anything go missing. At my current address they leave it in the porch, in almost full view of the main road and it never gets stolen *touches wood*
